04 NovCakes Show Colour!
Many cakes have moved from the traditional white with coloured flowers to boldly-coloured patterns adding colour to the entire cake. Coloured patterns can be printed onto chocolate with coco butter via transfer sheet and wrapped around the cake the chocolate sets. They can also be stenciled on fondant by wrapping the stencil around the cake, swiping on the icing and then removing the stencil.
More classic cake styles are simple but elegant. They don’t feature a lot of colour, flowers, or other additions on the cake, but they are still beautiful. The figurine of the bride and groom on top of a cake is no longer standard, even for the more classic styles. Pillars have also disappeared from cake styles.
Many cakes are still of a three-layer variety and can feed up to 250 guests unless they are using used as desert.
Cupcakes remain popular this year and bring with them many options including butter cream icing or fondant. Butter cream icing can be applied in different ways to change the appearance of the cupcakes, while fondant can be used for fancy designs. The cupcakes can be unfilled or filled with mousse made from real whipping cream.
There do not have to be enough cupcakes for each person and many people with not eat them.
